Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1982)

Director: Terry Hughes

Released: 1982

Sweeney Todd is a musical horror that sometimes can’t be considered a horror for the great musical numbers that it has in it. This movie shows how the main character Benjamin Barker (alias: Sweeney Todd) returns to London after being falsely accused and sent to prison in Australia by the corrupt Judge Turpin. After returning to London he rents out his old barber shop on fleet street that was kept in shape by the pie shop owner Nellie Lovett. After some revelations the two come to an agreement that is beneficial for both of their interests. Benjamin will get to ‘practice’ for his revenge on Judge Turpin and Nellie will get some fresh ‘produce’ for her pie shop. This is a film that anyone who enjoys a horror(ish) movie and musical will want to watch this film.

Warning: Blood, dismembered body parts and more blood.
