The Good, the Bad, the Weird

Director: Kim Jee-Woon

Released: 2008

This action movie, taking the basic premise of ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’, is the largest budget movie that Korea has to offer and it clearly shows with set design and scale through the roof. When a mysterious map is stolen, a bounty hunter, a hired killer and a petty thief all contend to find the treasure that is presumably buried in a secret location. What this film lacks in character development and complexity, it makes up for with huge shootouts and great cinematography.

You should also check out Takshi Miikes ‘Sukiyaki Western Django’. Be warned, ‘Sukiyaki Western Django’ is very, very strange, and features a cameo appearance from none other than Quentin Tarantino. We still have no idea why.
