Warriors Two

Director: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo

Released: 1978

I recently had a kung-fu movie marathon and out of everything that I saw, this was my favorite. As with all martial arts films, the story is unimportant. The general gist of every martial arts film from that period goes something like this: rival school/corrupt politician assassinates the protagonists teacher/father and must train to eventually overcome their powerful adversary and save their family/clan/village. Cue freeze frame of character in silly pose. Credits roll.

This film really shines however with it’s excellent fight choreography and lack of emphsis on style over realism. I also enjoyed ‘Clan of the White Lotus’ and the more modern Jet Li film ‘Fist of Legend’.
